| Text of Note | Θιασώτης του Διαφωτισμού προσπάθησε να δημιουργήσει εκσυγχρονισμένο συγκεντρωτικό κράτος και να υπονομεύσει την τοπική βάση εξουσίας των προκρίτων και των στρατιωτικών. Απέβλεπε στην ενσωμάτωση των ακτημόνων στον εθνικό κορμό με τη διανομή της κρατικής γης και στη δημιουργία ενιαίου συστήματος δικαίου. Έτσι, οι μικροϊδιοκτήτες χωρικοί θα αποκτούσαν σοβαρά κίνητρα να ενταχθούν στο νέο σύστημα και ο τοπικισμός, που ενίσχυαν οι πρόκριτοι και οι ένοπλες ομάδες, θα έχανε τα ερείσματα του. Η εκπαίδευση, η προστασία των αδυνάτων, η ανασυγκρότηση της χώρας, υπήρξαν οι κύριοι στόχοι του. |
